* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Northeastern Bell County in southeastern Kentucky...
Harlan County in southeastern Kentucky...
Southwestern Letcher County in southeastern Kentucky...
* WHEN...Until 245 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1144 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Harlan, Cumberland, Loyall, Evarts, Lynch, Benham, Wallins Creek,
Coxton, Ages, Golden Ash, Chevrolet, Kitts, Verda, Lenarve,
Clovertown, Harlan Gas, Rosspoint, Kildav, Grays Knob and Bobs
Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

The Flood Advisory will expire at 345 AM EDT early this morning for a
portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following areas, Bell,
Harlan and Letcher.
The heavy rain has ended. Flood waters have receded. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining
road closures.
