...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Eastern Letcher County in southeastern Kentucky...

* WHEN...Until 830 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 533 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.25 and 1.5 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the
    area. This additional rain could allow minor flooding to persist
    or worsen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Whitesburg, Fleming-Neon, Mayking, Colly, Sergent, Ermine,
    Winters, Farraday, Thornton, Millstone, Wright, Bellcraft,
    Craftsville, Seco, Marlowe, Whitaker, Eolia, Neon Junction, Oven
    Fork and Dongola.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

...FLOOD ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 830 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

The Flood Advisory will expire at 830 PM EDT this evening for a
portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following area, Letcher.

The heavy rain has ended, and any earlier flood waters have likely
receded. Flooding is no longer expected to pose an imminent threat.
Please continue to heed remaining road closures.

Additional light rainfall is ongoing across the previously-warned
area. Interests are encouraged to remain weather aware this evening.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for portions of
northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky...
