The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Custer County in central Nebraska...
  Northeastern Lincoln County in southwestern Nebraska...

* Until 130 AM CDT Tuesday.

* At 724 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain 
  have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Maxwell and Keith.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Platte River and Buffalo Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

FOR SOUTHWESTERN CUSTER AND NORTHEASTERN LINCOLN COUNTIES...

At 943 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 
and 6 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 
to 1 inch in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches 
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or 
expected to begin shortly.
