The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  West Central Dutchess County in east central New York...

* Until 715 PM EDT.

* At 517 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of 
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Poughkeepsie, Pleasant Valley, Highland, Red Oaks Mill, Fairview, 
  Arlington, Manchester Bridge, Macdonnell Heights, Colonial 
  Heights, Titusville, Rochdale, Rombout Ridge, Clark Heights, 
  Spackenkill, Timothy Heights, Dongan Place, Haviland, Rudco, Van 
  Keurens and Crown Heights.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 PM EDT THIS 
EVENING FOR WEST CENTRAL DUTCHESS COUNTY...

At 541 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms 
producing heavy rain in Local police reported significant flooding 
in the city of Poughkeepsie with cars getting stuck in flood waters. 
One location provided was Kingston Avenue and Arnold Boulevard. 
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall 
amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding 
is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
