The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Atchison County in northeastern Kansas...
  Leavenworth County in northeastern Kansas...
  Wyandotte County in northeastern Kansas...
  Platte County in west central Missouri...

* Until 700 PM CDT.

* At 112 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2.5 inches of 
  rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Kansas City, Shawnee, Leavenworth, Lansing, Atchison, Bonner 
  Springs, Parkville, Tonganoxie, Platte City, Basehor, 
  Edwardsville, Riverside, Weatherby Lake, Weston, Kansas City Intl 
  Arpt, Kansas City Kansas, Lake Waukomis, Edgerton and Dearborn.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 635 between mile markers 2 and 11.
Interstate 29 between mile markers 5 and 30.
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 211 and 226.
Interstate 435 between mile markers 9 and 38.
Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 410 and 422.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
