The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  North Central San Juan County in northwestern New Mexico...

* Until 730 PM MDT.

* At 426 PM MDT, gauge reports indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of 
  rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Gauges reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Farmington, Kirtland and Upper Fruitland.

This includes Highway 64 between Mile Markers 42 and 51.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer 
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many 
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM MDT THIS 
EVENING FOR NORTH CENTRAL SAN JUAN COUNTY...

At 544 PM MDT, emergency management reported flash flooding in 
Farmington area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. 
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the 
warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported that numerous roads have
         experienced flooding, with rocks, debris, and mud over
         roadways.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.
