The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southern De Kalb County in north central Illinois...
Northern La Salle County in north central Illinois...
Lee County in north central Illinois...
* Until 800 AM CDT.
* At 212 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 3 inches of rain have
fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches,
streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor
drainage areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Sandwich, Mendota, Amboy, Sheridan, Shabbona, Lake Holiday,
Hinckley, Somonauk, Earlville, Waterman, Serena, Leland, Paw Paw,
Sublette, Woodhaven Lakes, Millington, Lee, Compton, Troy Grove,
Nelson, West Brooklyn, Harmon, Triumph, Prairie Center and Lee
Center.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and
property.
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

FOR SOUTHERN DE KALB, NORTHERN LA SALLE AND LEE COUNTIES...
At 509 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have
fallen with the highest amounts across Lee County. While the heavy
rain has ended, additional heavy rain is possible later this morning.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS CANCELLED FOR SOUTHERN DE KALB, NORTHERN LA
SALLE AND LEE COUNTIES...
Significant flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat through
at least mid-morning. However, standing water and elevated creeks and
streams will persist this morning. A Flood Advisory has been issued
through late morning.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 100 PM CDT for portions of
Illinois and northwest Indiana.
