The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Howard County in southwestern Arkansas...
Central Sevier County in southwestern Arkansas...
* Until 130 PM CDT.
* At 1128 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
De Queen, Lockesburg, Geneva, Provo, West Otis, Silver Ridge and
West Line.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Buck Creek, Pond Creek, Sand Creek, Rock Creek, Cossatot River,
Hale Creek, Bear Creek, Twomile Creek, Little Cossatot River,
Little Bear Creek, Rolling Fork, Cool Easy Creek, Bridge Creek,
Bellville Creek, Messer Creek, Mud Creek, Dry Creek, Shepherd
Creek, Blue Creek, Cane Creek, Holly Creek and Saline River.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
