...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR PICAYUNE AND NICHOLSON, MISSISSIPPI...

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Pearl River County in southern Mississippi...

* Until 330 PM CDT.

* At 136 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported water is approaching
  homes and businesses. Multiple roads are closed due to flooding
  including US Highway 11 and Interstate 59 near Picayune. Between 8
  and 11 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up
  to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

  FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Picayune and Nicholson, Mississippi. This
  is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
           GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
           crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Picayune and Nicholson.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 330 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR
SOUTH CENTRAL PEARL RIVER COUNTY...

The heavy rain has ended. An areal flood warning remains in effect
for southeastern St. Tammany Parish and Hancock, northern Harrison,
and southeastern Pearl River Counties where ongoing significant
flooding continues caused by rises in creeks and rivers. Please
continue to heed remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 700 AM CDT Friday for portions
of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
