Powhatan County in central Virginia...
* Until 300 AM EDT.
* At 1148 PM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain falling across
the warned area. Up to 3 inches of rain has fallen in the past two
hours. The expected rainfall rate is 2 inches in 1 hour and 30
minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Gauges reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Powhatan, Cumberland, Tobaccoville, Ballsville, Sunnyside,
Trenholm, Macon, Guinea Mills, Clinton, Hatchers, Belona, Oak
Forest, Ashby, Whiteville, Grays Siding, Lake Powhatan, Tamworth,
Provost and Rock Castle.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

to 5.5 inches of rain since 10 PM across western Powhatan County.
