The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 1000 PM MDT.

* At 703 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Mainly rural areas of Northern Sandoval County.

This includes Highway 550 between Mile Markers 86 and 93.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MDT THIS EVENING
FOR NORTHERN SANDOVAL COUNTY...

At 738 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 1.25 and 2.25 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
         areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Mainly rural areas of Northern Sandoval County.

This includes Highway 550 between Mile Markers 86 and 93.

High and fast water flows are expected in Pena Wash. Roads J 23 and J
24 will also be impacted.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain have moved out of the area. Flash
flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to
heed any remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 300 AM MDT for portions of
central, north central, northwest, and west central New Mexico.
