The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico...
  Northwestern Culberson County in southwestern Texas...

* Until 400 AM MDT /500 AM CDT/.

* At 108 AM MDT /208 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Mesonet observing
  stations indicate that between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen
  in the past 1 to 2 hours near Carlsbad Caverns National Park and
  additional heavy showers and storms continue to move northward over
  areas that have received heavy rainfall. Flash flooding is ongoing
  or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Pine Springs, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, McKittrick Canyon,
  Whites City, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Lincoln National
  Forest and Queen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen during the past three hours.
  Additional heavy rainfall can be expected as storms train over the
  warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.
