The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Boone County in central West Virginia...
  Southeastern Kanawha County in central West Virginia...
  Southwestern Clay County in north central West Virginia...
  Northwestern Fayette County in southeastern West Virginia...
  West Central Nicholas County in southeastern West Virginia...

* Until 1045 PM EDT.

* At 738 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Montgomery, Chesapeake, Marmet, Belle, Cedar Grove, East Bank,
  Glasgow, Smithers, Gauley Bridge, Pratt, Powellton, Handley, Pond
  Gap, Sharon, Dawes, Bentree, Eskdale, Swiss, Indore and Bickmore.

This includes West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 73 and 90.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

SOUTHEASTERN KANAWHA, SOUTHWESTERN CLAY, NORTHWESTERN FAYETTE AND
WEST CENTRAL NICHOLAS COUNTIES...

The heavy rain has ended and flood waters are receding. Flooding is
no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed
remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 800 AM EDT Wednesday for
portions of southeast Ohio and West Virginia.
