The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northeastern Morton County in southwestern Kansas...
  Southwestern Grant County in southwestern Kansas...
  Northwestern Stevens County in southwestern Kansas...
  Southeastern Stanton County in southwestern Kansas...

* Until 500 PM CDT.

* At 353 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Manter,
  moving southeast at 20 mph.

  THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR HIGHWAY 27 BETWEEN JOHNSON
  AND THE MORTON COUNTY LINE!

  HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and three inch hail.

  SOURCE...Radar and storm spotter indicated. 3-inch diameter hail 
           was observed in Manter at 351 PM.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect 
           considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. 
           Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  northeastern Morton, southwestern Grant, northwestern Stevens and
  southeastern Stanton Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

This is a dangerous storm. Prepare immediately for large destructive
hail capable of producing significant damage. People outside should
move to shelter inside a strong building, and stay away from windows.

This thunderstorm is capable of producing all types of severe weather
including extremely large hail, destructive straight line winds and
tornadoes. Move quickly to a safe shelter such as an interior room, a
bathroom, closet or basement.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for southwestern
Kansas.

At 414 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles south of
Johnson City, moving southeast at 20 mph.

THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR RURAL SOUTHEASTERN STANTON COUNTY!

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and baseball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect 
         considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. 
         Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

Johnson City and Big Bow.

SOUTHWESTERN GRANT...NORTHWESTERN STEVENS AND SOUTHEASTERN STANTON
COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 500 PM CDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, small
hail, gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this
thunderstorm.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for southwestern
Kansas.

A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for 
Stevens, southwestern Grant, and northeastern Morton County until 
545 PM CDT.
