The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Wichita County in west central Kansas...
* Until 1030 PM CDT.
* At 928 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 23 miles northeast of Tribune to 6 miles east of
Leoti to 9 miles south of Modoc, moving east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Emergency manager reported golf ball sized hail 1 mile
east of Selkirk.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* These severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly rural areas of
Wichita County, including the following locations... Marienthal,
Lydia, and Selkirk.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
This thunderstorm is producing accumulating hail, which will make
driving hazardous, similar to snow or ice. If you must travel, be
aware of rapidly changing road conditions.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

At 948 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles west of Scott State Lake to 6 miles north of
Scott City to 5 miles southwest of Grigston, moving east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Leoti, Lydia, Selkirk, and Marienthal.
