* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Eastern Grayson County in southwestern Virginia...
* WHEN...Until 330 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1227 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Brush Creek, Hanks Branch, Fisher River, Gully Creek, Beaver
Creek, Glady Fork, Chestnut Creek, Flag Pond Branch, Cripple
Creek, Elk Creek, Farmers Branch, Bull Run, Knob Fork and
Beaverdam Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Galax, Independence, Fries, Baywood, Spring Valley and Elk Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
