...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...South Central Dona Ana County in south central New
  Mexico...
  West Central El Paso County in western Texas...

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.
  Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other
  areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 900 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    West El Paso, Central El Paso, Mission Valley, Santa Teresa,
    Sunland Park and Fort Bliss.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

...FLOOD ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 11 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

The Flood Advisory will expire at 11 PM MDT this evening for portions
of south central New Mexico, including the following area, Dona Ana
and western Texas, including the following area, El Paso.

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a
threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 600 AM MDT Friday for portions
of south central and southwest New Mexico...
