...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Central Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico...
* WHEN...Until 815 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 646 PM MDT, Thunderstorms with torrential rainfall rates will
quickly move through the greater Las Cruces Area. But torrential
rain will lead to minor flooding, especially in poor drainage
areas. Arroyos in the Talavera area and north of US-70 on the
East Mesa may flow again.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Las Cruces, NMSU Main Campus, Mesilla, Fairacres, Talavera, East
Mesa, San Pablo, Picacho and Northeast Las Cruces.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

The Flood Advisory will expire at 815 PM MDT this evening for the
greater Las Cruces Area.
The heavy rain has ended. Flood waters have receded. Please continue
to heed remaining road closures, and be aware of rocks and debris
left behind on roads.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 700 PM MDT Wednesday for
portions of New Mexico and southwest Texas...
