...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND. ...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Hall County in south central Nebraska...

* Until 245 AM CDT.

* At 1145 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 
  2 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen, and additional 
  rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. 
  Extensive flash flooding is already occurring in Grand Island, 
  with law enforcement unable to access some stranded vehicles.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the city of Grand Island. . 
  This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Grand Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM CDT EARLY THIS 
MORNING FOR NORTHEASTERN HALL COUNTY...

At 156 AM CDT, Emergency management along with Doppler radar and 
automated rain gauges indicated that although the very heaviest of 
rain has moved away, extensive flooding and flash flooding continues 
within and near the Grand Island city limits. Between 3 and 7 inches 
of rain have fallen in the last 12 hours, most of which occurred 
during the last four hours, and additional rainfall amounts up to 
around 1 inch are still possible in the warned area before rain ends 
later this morning. Flash flooding is already occurring.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the city of Grand Island. . This 
is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Warm Slough, Moores Creek, Silver Creek, Wood River and Prairie 
  Creek.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 245 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING 
FOR NORTHEASTERN HALL COUNTY...

The Flash Flood Warning Emergency for the city of Grand Island will 
be allowed to expire at this time, as Emergency Management reports 
that the situation is not quite as serious as it was a few hours 
ago. However, enough flooding issues remain in and near Grand island 
that a non-emergencey Flash Flood Warning continues for the area 
until 430 AM CDT. Please continue to heed remaining road closures.
