The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  West central Wake County in central North Carolina...
  Northeastern Chatham County in central North Carolina...

* Until 645 PM EDT.

* At 552 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles west 
  of Cary, moving south at 10 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Cary, RDU International, Apex, Holly Springs, Morrisville,
  Crosswinds Boating Center, Crosswinds Campground, New Hill, Jordan
  Lake, and Jordan Lake State Rec Area.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 283 and 286.
 US 1 between Mile Markers 83 and 84, and between Mile Markers 88 and
100.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR WEST CENTRAL WAKE AND
NORTHEASTERN CHATHAM COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However, heavy rain is
still possible with this thunderstorm.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
Raleigh.
