The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Eastern Person County in central North Carolina...
  Vance County in central North Carolina...
  Granville County in central North Carolina...

* Until 830 PM EDT.

* At 743 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles northwest
  of Oxford, moving east at 20 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Henderson, Oxford, Kittrell, Stovall, Middleburg, Gillburg, Mayo
  Reservoir, Steele Creek Marina & Campground, Kerr Lake, and South
  Henderson.

This includes Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 198 and 222.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service
office in Raleigh.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

If on or near area lakes, get away from the water and move indoors 
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles 
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close 
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!  Do not 
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

GRANVILLE COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However, heavy rain is
still possible with this thunderstorm.

Raleigh.
