The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Southwestern Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina...
  Eastern Polk County in east Tennessee...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 827 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 8 miles north of Ducktown, moving southeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Ducktown around 835 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
William L. Davenport Refuge, Copperhill, Hot House, and Turtletown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN CHEROKEE AND EASTERN POLK
COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 900 PM EDT...

The tornado threat has diminished and the Tornado Warning has been
cancelled. However, large hail and damaging winds remain likely and a
Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for the area.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
southwestern North Carolina...and east Tennessee.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
eastern Polk and western Cherokee counties until 9 PM EDT.
