The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Southwestern Perquimans County in northeastern North Carolina...
  Southeastern Chowan County in northeastern North Carolina...

* Until 115 PM EDT.

* At 1251 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
  tornado was located over Cape Colony, or 12 miles southwest of
  Hertford, moving northeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Hertford, Burgess, and Snug Harbor around 105 PM EDT.
  Winfall around 110 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Saint
Johns, Yeopim Station, Beach Springs, Light Nixon Fork, Somerset, and
Holiday Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

SOUTHWESTERN PERQUIMANS AND SOUTHEASTERN CHOWAN COUNTIES...

At 101 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Snug Harbor, or near Hertford, moving northeast at
35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This dangerous storm will be near...
  Hertford, Burgess, and Snug Harbor around 105 PM EDT.
  Winfall around 110 PM EDT.
