The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Northwestern Burke County in northwestern North Dakota...

* Until 830 PM CDT.

* At 742 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 6 miles northwest of Lignite, or 29 miles east of
  Crosby, moving northeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and tennis ball size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
           to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
           likely.

* Locations impacted include...
  Lignite, Columbus, Portal, Flaxton and Northgate.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building
away from windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a
vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself
from flying debris.

was located near Portal, or 32 miles east of Crosby, moving northeast
at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and tennis ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
         to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
         likely.

The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.

However, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for parts of
Burke County for a storm northeast of Powers Lake.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1200 AM CDT for a portion of
northwest North Dakota.
