...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 3 PM
CST SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. North of Interstate 40,
mainly snow is expected, with total accumulations between 6 and 12
inches. Blowing and drifting snow may occur. South of Interstate
40, mainly sleet is expected, mixing with snow and freezing rain.
Total sleet and snow accumulations between 3 to 5 inches. Freezing
rain of up to 0.25 inches may occur near the Red River.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Arkansas and east
central, northeast, and southeast Oklahoma.
* WHEN...From noon Friday to Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous to near impossible travel conditions are
expected areawide, with impacts likely to continue into next week
given the forecasted snow and sleet amounts. Localized power
outages may occur, especially near the Red River, where heavier
icing is possible. Brutally cold temperatures will prevail through
the weekend and into early next week. Warming shelters should be
considered.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Preparations for a high impact winter storm should be ongoing and
completed by early Friday. Ensure all required medicine and food
supplies are secured. Avoid travel if possible from Friday evening

accumulations between 5 and 10 inches with locally heavier amounts
up to 15 inches and ice accumulations between a quarter and a half
inch are possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Arkansas and east
central, northeast, and southeast Oklahoma.
* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
* IMPACTS...Isolated power outages and tree damage are possible due
to the ice. Travel will be severely impacted. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.
