The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Southeastern Montcalm County in central Michigan...

* Until 1045 PM EDT.

* At 1009 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
  tornado was located near Stanton, moving northeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  southeastern Montcalm County, including the following locations...
  Sheridan, Butternut, McBride, Sidney, Kings Corner, and Crystal.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not
wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN MONTCALM COUNTY...

At 1021 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 6 miles northwest of Carson City, or 7 miles southeast of
Stanton, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN MONTCALM COUNTY WILL EXPIRE
AT 1045 PM EDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, large 
hail is still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM EDT for central
Michigan.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
Montcalm and Gratiot counties.
