The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  East Central Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico...

* Until 730 PM MDT.

* At 646 PM MDT, a confirmed tornado was located 14 miles south of 
  Elkins, or 32 miles east of Roswell, moving southeast at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...Damaging tornado and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Public reported tornado on the ground.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught
           without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or
           destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will
           occur. Tree damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
  Mainly rural areas of East Central Chaves County.

This includes Highway 380 between Mile Markers 182 and 199.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built 
building away from windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, 
or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect 
yourself from flying debris.

This storm has a history of producing tornadoes.

Report severe weather to your nearest law enforcement agency or the 
National Weather Service office in Albuquerque NM.

...TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM MDT FOR EAST 
CENTRAL CHAVES COUNTY...

At 658 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 
was located 16 miles southeast of Elkins, or 35 miles east of 
Roswell, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and golf ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
         Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree
         damage is likely.

Locations impacted include...
  Mainly rural areas of East Central Chaves County.

This includes Highway 380 between Mile Markers 182 and 199.
